| 0lyella: not much, triviatrix, karate is actually kodate...chinese hands : | triviatrix: whats the difference between shorin ryu and uechi ryu thanks : |
| NvdWesthuizen: goju ryu. many open hand strikes. crane | xploreurmind: uechi ryu is not a sub style of goju, they both have similar traits, for example sanchin kata, however uechi practices the more traditional version, with open hands. both are classical styles, developed from one or another souther fukien form of kung fu. uechi for example derives from pangai noon. both styles have crane tiger and dragon aspects. both are good, hard styles. |
| wizard86: i have uploaded the whole way of the warrior documentary, check it out on my channel. | HaikuWar: yeah pretty much, ive never seen any other style who use open hand strikes besides uechi ryu and chinese styles. |
| weaseldragon: ah... not quite. good try though. | seravi: notable for each style: goju oldest, kyokushin believe in full contact sparring, uechi retains its form from china and one of the few if not the only karate style that teaches open hand techniques toes, fingers . |
| sigmacombatsystems: because most competitive mma fighters have absolutely no experience fighting for real. they may have fought on the street sure, but just to see who had bigger balls. never life or death. that and when you consider what a large number of mma schools charge don't expect to find people that grew up in violent, crime stricken, poor neighborhoods. | deek77: good question. western schools that claim to teach okinawan karate for some reason don't all hold to the old ways of training, though many still do. i've been searching online for places that sell okinawan japanese training equipment so i can get it for myself and train at home. also checking out some dvd and books on how to use them, and even how to make them myself, which is what many karateka did in the old days. i can send you some links i found if you want. |
| Mider999: so this uechi ryu is suppose to be a sub style of goju does that mean goju does everything uechi ryu does and more or less | Mider999: whats the diffrence between ueichi ryu, goju, and kyokushin i mean which is the best to learn and were can one learn it properly and traditionally in the usa |
| Mider999: were can you go to even learn this type of art i mean most of the time you ask a sensei do you use the stone hammer goju or the pots to do the kata and he says no. so im there like then how is it traditional i mean i wanna be tough and strong but i dont wanna go all the way to okinawa just to learn the best arts | DrewOchsner: mrtheuploader karate comes partly from chinese kenpo. however, much of the secret technique in okinawan karate comes from their ancient indigenous grappling art called "tuite" or just "te" also referred to as "tegumi" in some parts of okinawa . nearly all of the okinawan styles and their kata have hidden 'tuite' applications that use devastaing joint locks and breaks. these are only taught at the dan levels. |
| DrewOchsner: now why don't the competitive mma fighters believe me when i explain to them that in a real life situation, they would get killed or mortally wounded by the big toe or fingers of an okinawan master this is after they ask my why these great masters aren't winning championships if they're "so good" that's partly why master and grand master karate ka don't compete in such events aong many other reasons . | JMHamilton1: i do believe the tradition of goju ryu should be the foundation of all goju and as other system form, one should teach both the traditional system and any other system that may form from it. with this way of teacher we honor both, the master of okinawa tradition and the teacher we are under. |
| deek77: what i always like about shinjo sensei is how he shows it's very possible to condition your toes and fingers. i see so many posters who only like mma or kyokushin argue that you should only do mawashi geri with the shin instep. yes that's one way to do it, but historically that is the muay thai way which oyama used . in traditional karate they used the ball of the foot. they also say it's safer, but unless you harden the shin and ankle instep area too, it's just as risky. | LbCrosscountry: i take uechi ryu : |
| Magma299: im from okinawa | wateronthesmoke: now i found a link, search for huzunquan. |
| Lamarent: okinawan must be a very peaceful country back in the day i wouldnt mind living there : | wateronthesmoke: almost all kung fu styles i see don't even resemble karate. they are all full of movements... if uechi is relatively unaltered kung fu comparing with other karate styles , why does it is still nearer to karate than the former salutations |
| buri2zaemon: what can i say it's awesome, what a super technique osu | mrtheuploader: karate is the result of the fusion of many skills...the naha te and the shuri te, typical of okinawa...but the "slow"part comes from tai chi from china, and something from the chinese boxe, the kenpo...so probably it resambles you chinese tecniques greetings |
| Anibal677: does still exist the pangai noon style in china . would it have somo other name in china |
